I was curious about the followers that I apparently have. Imagine that, someone who actually read and appreciated what I wrote enough to take the time to click the follow button. I’m really not being cheeky here either.
I have followers from other sites and I guess the fact that there are some that follow me and some who don’t, just reinforces what life has already shown me in clear detail. Ya can’t please everyone. The first was a short blurb I wrote expressing my view on commitment and sexuality. It is gratifying to see that that short blurb is still in circulation and still touching people. At the time I wrote that comment I had been married to the same woman for 38 years. I updated the comment today (18 Mar 2022) and that was when I discovered how many “followers” I have on Medium.
I do write extensively on other sites, but I think I just may start writing here more. I do so love offering my thoughts on life so others can see that they are not alone. The effort to share my experience of this crazy, wonderful, confusing, joyful, existence can only be made sense of in reflecting upon it, then sharing those reflections with others who are interested in such things.
In fact, today’s discovery (of the publication's continued existence and the followers) brought a measure of happiness and meaning to me. So this can also be an expression of gratitude as well as amazement to me. Thank you.
I have offered my experience in affairs of the heart, including but not limited to, parenthood, child-rearing, family, and marriage. Mental health issues, from the perspective of what I have learned about how to cope with the oppressive and crushing nature of depression, aging, grief, and the transitory nature of life. General observations in regard to the certain uncertainty of social interactions, educational opportunities, and working for a living, career change, and the wondrous ability of hope to awaken courage, and enable mental and emotional survival in times of personal tragedy.
Perhaps we can discover together more than we can discover separately…
